Scenes V2

Time for another Game Changer!

Tasker’s Scenes have been completely rebuilt from scratch!

The old scenes had fixed sizes, so they could look great on one screen and completely wrong on another. Scenes V2 automatically adapt to any screen size, follow the Material 3 design guidelines and switch between dark and light mode on their own!

Show Them Anywhere

You can show your scenes as a full screen app, as a dialog, as an overlay on top of any app (that you can drag around or that lets your touches go through it), over your lock screen, on an external display or even as your phone’s screen saver while it’s charging!

And if you need a result back from a scene, simply pick one of the With Result display modes and your task will wait for the user to finish.

Building Scenes

The new editor lets you build your scenes visually with over 30 components like buttons, sliders, text inputs, cameras, videos and web views, and style them any way you want with gradients, borders, shadows, blur, custom fonts and much more.

Components can animate when they show up or go away, and with Interactive Mode you can test everything right inside the editor, just like it was running for real!

Don’t feel like building it yourself? Simply ask the built-in AI to build it for you!

You can also save any component as a template to reuse it in all your scenes, crop any component to the shape of an SVG and easily build lists from your Tasker arrays with the Arrays Merge Template component.

Fully Automated

Scenes V2 aren’t just a pretty UI builder: every single part of a scene can be controlled by your tasks!

  • Show Scene v2: show a scene in full screen, as a dialog or as an overlay. You can even build an inline scene right inside the action
  • Update Scene v2: change anything in a scene while it’s showing
  • Update Scene v2 Overlay: move and resize overlays on the fly
  • Get Scene v2 Values: grab the values of a scene at any time
  • Wait For Scene v2 Result: wait for the user to finish and get the result back. You can also wait inline with the With Result variants of the Show Scene v2 display modes
  • Run Scene v2 Action: control components, like focusing a text box or seeking a video
  • Trigger Scene v2 Event: “click” a button from a task
  • Dismiss Scene v2: close a scene from your tasks

It works the other way around too: with the new Scene V2 Event, any tap, long-click, swipe or value change in any scene can trigger a normal Tasker profile!

Inside the scene itself you get States, Event Handlers and Show When conditions, so a lot of stuff that used to need separate tasks can now be done in the scene directly.

WebView and Video

For the more technically inclined, the WebView component can call many, many Tasker actions directly from JavaScript, so you can build just about any screen you can imagine with HTML!

The Video component lets you build a fully functional video player with minimal task wiring.

And you can control everything from the Java Code action too, so fast that you can update a scene 60 times per second!

You can find the full Scenes V2 manual here.

New UI

Tasker’s main screen is getting a brand new look! These videos show the evolution of the UI while I was building it. Later videos show a more mature version, so make sure to check those out too!

It’s still in an early stage, but you can try it out right now by enabling Use Tasker 2026 UI in Tasker > Preferences > UI.

Instead of tabs, you get a single list with all your profiles, tasks and scenes that you can filter any way you like. You can see exactly what’s running, and run or stop tasks right from the list. Creating a new automation guides you through the whole process, so you don’t even need to know what a profile is!

You can organize everything in projects, either in the sidebar or inline in the list (still debating if I should keep both as an option), and each project tints the whole screen with the color of its icon. If you want to go further, you can also use tags to organize your items in multiple ways at once!

The Runlog screen also got a makeover, so you can clearly see where each task starts and ends, and which actions failed.

Many more things are coming to the new UI, so stay tuned!

Material Symbols

Tasker now has almost 4000 new icons you can use anywhere: for your projects and tasks, in your notifications, Quick Setting tiles, widgets and scenes!

They even change on their own: on a Quick Setting tile, the icon is filled when the tile is on and outlined when it’s off.

Test Action

You can now test any action right while you’re setting it up, without having to go back to the task. Customizing stuff like a Flash, a Notification or a Dialog is now MUCH faster!

Write JSON

Tasker could already read JSON really easily… now it can write it too!

Just use the dot notation in a normal Variable Set action, like %json.address.city, and Tasker builds the whole JSON structure for you, including all the parts in between!

It works in Variable Set, Variable Clear, Multiple Variables Set and the Array Set, Push and Pop actions, and the new Format JSON action makes it look pretty when you need it to.

App Factory Is Back

In the last update I said App Factory wouldn’t be updated anymore… Well, I changed my mind! 😁

You can now use any recent Tasker feature in your App Factory apps, including Scenes V2, and your apps will target recent Android versions instead of being stuck on an old one.

If Conditions Preview

Tasker’s If conditions could be hard to understand when you combined multiple statements with ANDs and ORs. Now you get a preview at the top that shows exactly how the condition will end up!

50 Quick Setting Tiles and SVG Icons

Tasker now has 50 Quick Setting tiles, and the new ones only show up in your system when they’re configured, so your tile setup screen stays clutter free!

You can also use SVG files directly as icons in your notifications and Quick Setting tiles.

More Stuff

  • Java Code: run shell commands exactly like the Run Shell action, send real Tasker arrays back and forth with your tasks, take screenshots with Tasker’s accessibility service and monitor the screens you create in Java Code
  • 6 new languages: Portuguese (Portugal), Dutch, Cantonese, Hungarian, Indonesian and Romanian
  • New Wifi Changed event and Wait For Command action
  • Target API 36 and much better memory handling
