FAQ

Can AutoWear intercept regular “Ok Google” commands on my watch?

It cannot by itself. You can do that with the Google Search API XPosed module. You can’t do it in lollipop though because it doesn’t support the XPosed framework. Get the latest version of the XPosed module here if you’re not on Lollipop.

You can also use several AutoWear app shortcuts that you can enable in the AutoWear settings app on your watch.  Check the question below.

Can AutoWear control ambient or cinema mode?

Unfortunately no. There are no APIs in the Android system to control those, so AutoWear has no way to do it. Only Google can do it for now.

Why would I need AW to intercept “note to self” or “take note”?

You need that because AutoWear can’t intercept regular “Ok google” commands, so this is the next best thing.

What does checking the “Launcher Apps” in the AW settings (on the watch) do?

Those are shortcuts that you can use with “Ok Google”. For example, if you enable the launcher app “Work” and then say “Ok Google Start Work” a special command  will be sent that corresponds to the Work app (command is &APPOPENEDWORK&). You can react to this command however you want in Tasker or in AutoWear elements on your watch. You can start your work PC with wake on lan, or open a web page on your PC with AutoRemote or turn on some lights with AutoVera, whatever you want 🙂

Some text fields in AutoWear support html. Which html tags are supported?

Check here for an unofficial list of supported tags.

Why does AutoWear need access to Google Play Games when starting the trial?

Because unfortunately that’s the only way it could get access to “cloud saves”. It only uses it to save your trial’s start date. You can edit the privacy settings so that everything is private if you wish.

If you don’t want to use Google Play Games at all you can simply purchase the app and if you find that you don’t like it, contact me and I’ll refund it for you 🙂

I can’t get shake to work on my Huawei watch!

There is known issue that the shake detection doesn’t work on the Huawei watch. Unfortunately I don’t own one myself and haven’t been able to figure out why that is yet. I apologize in advance for this.
